Day 28: Who Am I?Have you ever heard something that you thought was so inspiring or eloquent that you started to incorporate it into your vocabulary? In 2 Samuel chapter 7, God establishes His covenant with David and then David prays in a way that I tend to use from time to time myself.![]() “Now, O LORD God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said. So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel.’ And let the house of Your servant David be established before You. For You, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You. “And now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant. Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord GOD, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever.” Over and over, I find God working in a life that has done nothing (nor can ever do enough) to be worthy of His grace and mercy, yet He continues to shower me with blessings beyond my wildest dreams. “Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever…” Written by Tom Simons, a member at Mt. Great lesson on prayer. I too wonder sometimes wonder why I am blessed so much and am so thankful for these blessings but sometimes do not show my gratitude as I should. I appreciate your thoughts.
Tom, I spoke of this post late last night to a room of folks. What a question... "Who am I?"
I think of that also as it relates to us as a congregation. Why has God blessed us so richly? Is there a better place to worship, serve, and enjoy God's family? And who are we to receive such a gift? Thanks brother, drs << Home |
