Day 22: Property for SalePROPERTY FOR SALE: Location, Location, Location! Prime Commercial Property available. 8 acres with 50,000 sq ft Office/Warehouse space. Adjacent to “Peaceful” Mill Creek in Nashville TN.Well, at least the creek is peaceful today…on this crisp cool morning in early December. But, as I survey the view from my office window today, I can’t help but recall how the scene was drastically different exactly seven months ago. You see, the Mill Creek Basin lies only 50 yards from my office window. The creek cradles our property to the left and rear as it makes a sharp right turn, continuing on its journey to the Cumberland River only a mile or so downstream. On most days, running water is reserved to the lower 4-5 feet of the 30 foot basin. But, as we are all too familiar, the extraordinary amount of rainfall that came in early May of this year was simply too much for the banks of the creek to contain the swelling water. Eventually, the violent flowing water would push its way through the front door, leaving a torrent of debris as it made its way through every corridor of our business facility. The current of the water left behind fascinating patterns and unbelievable evidences, demonstrating the power of hydraulic pressures. I’m happy to report that our business survived the aftermath of the May 2010 flood, and after several months of renovation and business continuity planning, it's back to “business as usual”. During the months of renovation, I’m sure the prospects of selling such a property as this would have seemed ridiculous considering the mountains of debris and rubbish that filled our parking lot, not to mention the fact that the prop In Jeremiah 32, we read of a similar event. Not a flood by any means. But consider this: Jeremiah, by direction of God, purchased property in a time and place that seamed completely unfitting. You see, the land in consideration was already destined to be occupied by the Babylonians. The siege of the city was at hand. Because of wars, famines, and plagues, God’s warning would come to pass– that the city would be given into the hands of the Chaldeans (Jeremiah 32:24). What an awesome display of faith on the part of Jeremiah– to purchase a property that would appear doomed in the eye of the beholder! But more compelling than just his display of faith is his reply to God in prayer (Jeremiah 32:17-25). Take a moment to read the passage and notice Jeremiah’s acknowledgment of God’s wisdom, ultimate authority, and power. We can also be bold in trusting God’s promises and, yes, each day we should certainly act out of faith. But try following that up with a sounding reply of acknowledging God’s power and promise. Comments:
Doug – great teachings! I’m glad Jesus purchased property that was condemned – I’m it! God is in the business of seeing potential when everyone else sees ruin.
Hey what about the line in Jeremiah 32:18 “but you repay the guilt of fathers(F) to their children after them?” We live in a society that hardly takes responsibility for their own actions; do we see how our lives impact the lives of our children? Are we leaving them a burden or a blessing? << Home |
